Hillyard had two Netcom accounts in December of 1996, and was making posts from both of them, using the names Tim Beasley (beasley6@ix.netcom.com) and Steve Haddock (shad@ix.netcom.com) to support his position a flame war while pretending to be other people. He was also forge cancelling many messages posted by other people, and then started flooding the newsgroup with reposted copies of those same individuals' posts. Netcom verified his activity and cancelled both accounts.
I think he may have had another account in 1997, or that (more likely) his employer, Advanced Visual Systems, had a newsfeed or other service from them, as he had my email address forged in the headers of an email he sent to Netcom's support department on October 27, 1997. The email was not addressed properly, so it bounced back to me.
December 14, 1996 - posted one message as Steve Haddock (shad@ix.netcom.com) in reply to a message posted from WorldNet as Linda Davis (inquiry@usa.net).
December 18, 1996 - issued cancellations for messages he posted as "Linda Davis" as well as forging cancellations of my messages. In his own typical fashion, he issued 3 cancellations for just one of the Davis messages.
December 19, 1996 - Flooded atl.general by reposting messages from various MindSpring users. In many of them he altered the original poster's email addresses in various juvenile ways.
Again, there were so many forgeries in Rob Redmond's name (bigred@mindspring.com) that I can't link to them all individually. See December 19 parts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7.
